Newcomers & Friends

Board

  • President

    Jean Ricketts

Jean has been a member of Newcomers & Friends since 2014. Raised in the Boston area and Connecticut, she graduated from Ithaca College and then moved to Central Jersey. In 2000, her husband’s job took her family to Bermuda for a year and a half, where she was not working outside the home, but joined the New Islanders women’s group there, finding it a wonderful way to make friends and get involved while in a new place. She was delighted to find NC&F just as she was about to retire from a 40-year career as a pediatric physical therapist. Jean has written the group’s newsletter for the past four years and has enjoyed participating in and/or helping to lead groups such as Broadway Bound, Fun & Games, Global Insights, Bridge Round Robin, Great Artists, Hiking, and Movie Night. Other interests include golf, skiing, and reading. She is excited to be working with this fantastic board and for what is to come for this amazing organization and its dynamic and stimulating members.

Cathylee still loves the activities she enjoyed in New England such as skiing, sailing, biking and exploring cities. She was an IT professional and she enjoys oil painting in her spare time. Cathylee loves the ocean and is glad that the boardwalk near Belmar is a straight shot east and only takes one hour. Moving to NJ without knowing a single soul, Cathylee was so happy to find NC&F and the group of wonderful ladies that make it up.

  • Marketing/Communications VP

    Jill Barton

Jill was born and raised in the Adirondacks in upstate New York. In my early 20’s I married my husband Keith and became a military wife. For the next 24 years I moved 14 times and lived all over (Italy, California, DC, Hawaii and Guam just to name a few). We raised two boys, Will and Ryan while on this great adventure. I moved to Princeton two years ago following my husband's retirement and discovered this great group of women. I jumped right in as the Lunch Bunch Interest Group leader and Fall Cocktail Party host. I enjoy many of the IG’s including Mahjong, Lunch Bunch and Teen Talk. I’ve always said you never know when you’re going to meet your next friend, I have met many through Newcomers and Friends and I am very grateful!

  • Treasurer

    Sarah Scanga

Sarah was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and lived in Dallas to 13 years and Florida for 19 years. Sarah is happy to have returned back to the Northeast since 2004. She joined Newcomers in 2017 and held the Board position of Recording Secretary for 3 years. Retiring in 2016 from a career in financial services, focusing on strategic planning, marketing and communications, retirement has allowed Sarah to pursue her favorite activities such as learning Italian, playing duplicate bridge and volunteering at Rise. Newcomers & Friends has allowed Sarah to make new friends and participate in a wide variety of activities. She is happy to be serving on the board again, of such a great organization and looks forward to participating in more interest groups.

Patti is a “Jersey” girl. She moved to Somerset County in 2013 after living in Hudson and Bergen Counties. She joined Newcomers in 2014—-hoping to meet new friends, learn the area, and just have fun. A retired educator, she loves being around children and continues that love by being a GrandPal in Princeton and co-chairing the NC&F Holiday Gift-Giving drive.
