Let Your Voice be Heard - Poetry Slam Fundraiser

The YWCA Princeton NEXT GEN Board will hold its first poetry slam fundraiser to raise funds for a speaker series dedicated to racial and social justice in 2018. Join us or participate as a performer in this exciting event that will break boundaries and build bridges within the greater Mercer County community.  Download the event flyer here.

Breaking Boundaries, Building Bridges

A poetry slam is typically a performance of poetry that engages the community and provides a platform for voices to be heard beyond social, cultural, political and economic barriers. This is an opportunity for adults within the Mercer County area to share racial and social justice stories of empowerment, passions, struggles, accomplishments, hopes for the future and much more in a unique and artistic way with an audience dedicated to the YWCA Princeton’s mission of empowering women and eliminating racism.

Headline Poet:  Alexandra Lewis

The NEXT GEN Board is pleased to announce Alexandra Lewis will headline the Poetry Slam. Alexandra is a student at Rumson Country Day School and has written poems on topics such as equality, feminism, and freedom. Over the years she has won awards for Excellence and Honors from the New Jersey Orators. Most recently, Alexandra performed at TEDxAsbury.
