The BCRC Patient Assistance Fund is supported by the Christina S. Walsh Breast Cancer Foundation and the Mercer County Commission on the Status of Women, and is dedicated to providing financial assistance to breast cancer patients in need. The Fund will help offset expenses incurred as a result of breast cancer diagnosis and treatment including, but not limited to, treatment, medication, medical tests, co-pays, hospice care and other necessities not covered by insurance, as well as cost of meals, accommodations, hospital parking fees, childcare, rent, utilities etc. incurred by patients and families while a loved one is in hospital, treatment or recovery. The Fund will provide assistance up to $250 per patient per year. This can be a one-time lump sum to help with a larger expense such as rent or childcare, or smaller amounts to cover individual expenses such as medication co-pays, hospital parking, or transportation to and from treatment.
Help with costs of cancer care can come from many sources, but it can take effort to piece together what is available. If you do not qualify for assistance from the BCRC PAF (or if you need additional support) we encourage you to review the Financial Help For People With Cancer document. You should also discuss financial concerns with your health care team (doctor, nurse, social worker) and billing department/business office of your medical facility to see if any other assistance is available.
